E-Invoice Checker

Detect structured e-invoices in PDF and XML files and read typical invoice data locally in your browser. Detection is not formal or tax-law validation.

Analyze an e-invoice locally

Supported formats: PDF and XML. Maximum size: 25 MB.

Your file is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded.

Ready for a PDF or XML file.

What this tool does

The E-Invoice Checker detects structured electronic invoices in PDF and XML files and reads typical invoice data from them.

It supports XRechnung, ZUGFeRD or Factur-X, EN 16931, and UBL or CII syntax where the identifiers and structure are recognizable.

How to use the tool

  1. Choose a PDF or XML file up to 25 MB, or drop it into the file area.
  2. Review the recognition details, normalized invoice data, notices and deterministic detection confidence.
  3. For an embedded invoice XML, you can view the XML or save it as a local file.

Useful applications

  • Check an XRechnung for recognizable UBL or CII structure and typical core data before further processing.
  • Detect ZUGFeRD or Factur-X XML inside a hybrid PDF and inspect the readable profile and invoice information.
  • Distinguish a structured invoice with an unknown profile from a regular PDF without structured invoice data.

Notes and limitations

  • Processing takes place entirely in the browser; the file and extracted invoice data are not sent to the server.
  • The checker recognizes formats, profiles and typical data, but it does not perform complete XSD, Schematron or tax-law compliance validation.
  • MINIMUM and BASIC WL are shown as technical ZUGFeRD or Factur-X profiles and are not automatically classified as a full German e-invoice.
  • Identifiers from the ZUGFeRD 2.x and Factur-X family, including the 2.5.x generation, are considered; a concrete version is shown only when XML or metadata identifies it unambiguously.
  • An EN 16931 identifier from the 2017 edition is not treated as obsolete or invalid on that fact alone.
  • Standards basis last reviewed: August 2026. A static browser implementation does not replace checking against current validators.

Frequently asked questions

What is an e-invoice?

An e-invoice contains structured, machine-readable invoice data and is more than a scanned PDF or a PDF containing only visible text.

Is a regular PDF an e-invoice?

Without embedded or separate structured invoice data, a regular PDF is not a structured e-invoice for this checker.

What is the difference between XRechnung and ZUGFeRD?

XRechnung is typically exchanged as a standalone XML file, while ZUGFeRD or Factur-X can embed structured XML in a PDF/A-3 file.

Is my invoice uploaded?

No, the file is read and analyzed only in your browser.

Is the result a legally valid validation?

No, detection confidence is not a legal, tax or EN 16931 compliance score and does not replace a complete validator.

What does detection confidence mean?

The percentage combines fixed, explainable signals such as XML structure, identifiers, embedded attachments and recognized core data.
