What is the difference between the plain distance and inclusive counting?

The plain distance does not count the end date additionally. Inclusive counting adds one day, so the period from August 1 to August 2 contains two days.

How many days are between August 1 and August 2?

The plain distance is 1 day. When the end date is included, the period contains 2 days.
