It uses decimal units: one MB equals 1,000,000 bytes, and one Mbit/s equals 1,000,000 bits per second.

Frequently asked questions

Why can the actual transfer time differ from the estimate?

The usable bandwidth varies and commonly includes protocol overhead. The target server, other transfers and the local network can also slow a transfer down.
