What this tool does

The converter encodes supported text as Morse patterns made of short and long signals. It works entirely in the browser and updates the result as you type.

The tool is intentionally one-way: it converts text to Morse code and does not decode Morse back into text.

How to use the tool

  1. Enter supported text in the input field.
  2. Keep the default dot, dash, and slash notation or replace them with your preferred visible symbols.
  3. Review the result. Unsupported characters are omitted and reported below the output.
  4. Copy the Morse code or save it as a UTF-8 text file.

Notes and limitations

  • The core letters, digits, and selected punctuation follow ITU-R M.1677. The additional group contains common, national, or tool-specific extensions.
  • The multiplication sign * uses the same pattern as X, while # uses the tool-specific six-dot mapping shown in the table.
  • Unsupported characters are skipped rather than guessed. Curly quotes, common dash variants, and Arabic, Persian, Devanagari, and full-width digits are normalized where possible.
  • Custom symbols change only the written representation. They do not generate audio or light signals, and identical short and long symbols are rejected.

Can this tool decode Morse code into text?

No. This version encodes supported text as Morse code only.

Why are some characters missing from the output?

Characters without a configured mapping are omitted and counted in a warning instead of being converted inaccurately.

Do custom dot and dash symbols change the Morse pattern?

No. They replace the visible short and long signal symbols while the underlying sequence remains the same.

Are all mappings part of the international standard?

No. The core table follows ITU-R M.1677, while the additional group includes common, national, and tool-specific extensions.
