What this tool does

The VAT calculator determines the missing values from either a net or gross amount and a freely adjustable tax rate. It works internationally and does not assume any specific tax rate.

You can both add tax to a net amount and extract the included tax from a gross amount.

How to use the tool

  1. Choose the calculation direction: “Net → Gross” to add tax or “Gross → Net” to extract the included tax.
  2. Enter the net amount (for Net → Gross) or the gross amount (for Gross → Net).
  3. Enter the VAT rate in percent – decimal values are supported.
  4. The result shows net amount, VAT amount and gross amount with two decimal places.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use reduced rates like 7% or 5.5%?

Yes. The rate is freely adjustable, so you can enter any value such as 7%, 5.5% or 0%.

Why does the recalculated net amount sometimes differ minimally from the original?

The calculation uses commercial rounding to two decimal places. When reversing from a gross amount, minor rounding differences may occur, which are within the usual commercial accuracy.
